Isn’t it great that you have the privilege of choosing from a plethora of options? People these days, prefer to browse through the products without stepping out of their house and why not when they can get exactly what they want. Due to this shift in the customer behavior and to cater to their taste, there are hundreds of thousands of websites out there.

Even though there are websites not all of them get the same response from the clients, not all of them are well received by users. Some of the sites rank high and always have a strong user base while others struggle to keep up with their users. What I’m promulgating is that whether you’re an e-commerce giant or merely a kiosk, having a website can definitely bring in more positive results. You can run the risk of not having a website but sooner or later you’ll realize its paramount importance. So, why not start right now.

Although there are some mistakes that can kill any website and at any cost, you should avoid them. The crux of a successful website is not only in implementing powerful strategies but to avoiding these mistakes.

In this article, we are touching on some of these mistakes. Here’s what to look for boosting conversion rates.

1. Don’t Include Long Introductions In The Homepage:

“Introduce yourself” – You are familiar with this term, isn’t it? It varies in accordance with the number of interviews you face in your life. The moment the first word comes out of your mouth until the last word, you try to keep it simple and succinct. Without going into much detail yet revealing about yourself precisely. What I’m trying to prove is that no one has enough time to just listen to your accomplishments, unless can be said in few words.

Apply the same logic on your website. Remember this, your site isn’t an article. Users only look for information that they think can come handy and other than that, everything is irrelevant to them. The homepage is what defines your page and is the soul of your site. Get this point, long introductions aren’t relevant to users. The more precise, more succinct and clearer the introduction is, the more benefits your company will garner in. Jump in and don’t waste time in getting your message out.

2.Site Not Being Mobile Optimized:

There is a shift in the way people browse the internet. The number of mobile users has exceeded the desktop users and the number is proliferating. People like to visit websites from their smartphone and tablets and the moment there is a void in their comfort zone, they’d leave without even thinking for a moment. Nobody likes to be greeted with small images and texts. Today, mobile users expect a simplified and easy to navigate with all the information being optimized from the user perspective.

As the mobile users continue to grow, so the expectation will also grow. Also, the final nail in the coffin is that recently, Google has introduced a new algorithm that indexes websites depending on the performance of mobile devices. Though it’s in the testing phase it might be soon rolled out.

If your site is not mobile responsive, then consider this immediately. Chances are that users are browsing via smartphones and why not give them a reason for being a loyal customer.

3. User comes first:

You need to get this fact that your website is for users. Write contents for users first and not for search engines. Most of the time we think only about getting indexed by search engines and completely neglect to think from the user’s perspective. After all, your site about engaging with users and not search engines.

4.Adding Too Many Elements To A Page:

You need to be creative with your site yet keeping it simple and powerful enough. Refrain from adding visual elements excessively. The quality web page is appealing and it also doesn’t put a load on the overall performance of the site. Identify the most important aspect of your site and then initiate the process accordingly. Sometimes, removing elements may be actually the best way of improving the site’s performance.

5. Websites Are For Content And Not Wholly For Images:

Pictures are worth a thousand words. They are capable of presenting ideas and getting the message out succinctly. But, they must be in line with the purpose of conveying the message. So, while developing a website, you need to start with the content and then add relative images. Include information that is relevant and images that support the information. You can have a look at any of the notable e-commerce and get an idea of how to implementing the process. You need to include relevant information on each page and consider Navigation planning and Page Layout Planning.

As the site has other things also, that’s why Navigation and Page Layout should be done with regard to content first.

6. Writing too much about diverse topics:

Stick to what your site offers or is all about. Trying to incorporate diverse topics and writing about them will not only confuse your users but would also hinder the search engine ranking of the site. For instance, if your site is about real estate, then write about the same domain. Stay with what is relevant to your readers. The purpose of blogs and articles is to establish yourself as an expert in the respective field and write from the user perspective.

Don’t be Jack Of All Trades King Of None.

7. Don’t Forget About on Page SEO:

Although meta descriptions and meta titles do not matter for SEO that much still it’s important and beneficial to add them to the site. You can easily edit your web pages on search engine results pages. Don’t stuff many keywords but rather describe the contents in 156 or fewer characters. Also, include a summary to get searchers to click on the link.
If you have a WordPress site and the Genesis Framework, you can do it on each page and post. Or just install the Yoast SEO plugin and edit them there
